CARNIVAL EFFORT
ARMY QUEEN CAMPAIGN THIS WEEK'S EVENTS. MARBLES CHAMPIONSHIP TONIGHT. Principal interest in the campaign on behalf of the Army Queen candidate. Miss Marion Holdsworth, centres on the marbles, dart and quoits championships to be held in the Municipal Hall tonight, for which many entries have been received. Tomorrow night a concert party will visit Mauriceville, and on Friday the weekly bring and buy shop day will be held at the Army Queen depot in Daniell's building. Donations of meat, vegetables, groceries and alt other saleable goods arc desired. The week's campaign will conclude on Saturday night with a grand street parade and interhouse dance for which a most energetic committee is arranging- an unusual and attractive dance programme.
AIR FORCE QUEEN “BRING AND BUY” DAY. AT "AIR RAID" SHELTER ON FRIDAY. Farmers, and others desirous of supporting the Air Force Queen, are advised that a bring and buy produce day is being held at the “Air Raid” Shelter on Friday. Donations of cakes, fruit, vegetables, and produce of any kind will be gratefully accepted. Parcels may be left at the “Shelter” for safe keeping while supporters are shopping in the town, 'phone No. 2338. Garden Party Saturday. Full details are to be found in this issue, of the Garden Party to be held on Saturday at the residence of Mrs W. A. Burling. Lansdowne, to further the candidature of the Air Force Queen. Miss Jose Hosking. A strong ladies' committee have been working in this connection for some time, and all who attend can be assured of a pleasant and profitable afternoon in glorious surroundings.
