HOMILY WINS AT HAWERA * X Rotorua Cup to Black Musk MONA’S SONG SUCCESSFUL AT GORE WIN FOR BOLDSTEP AT GISBORNE (BY ‘’THE GRAFTER.”) At the Egmont Racing Club’s meeting on Saturday the Chief event wac won by Homily, who secured her first success .this season. The Nolan Hack Cup went Alexcelia. A surprise was recorded in the Rotorua Cup when an outsider. Black Musk, won easily by a length and a half from another outsider in Erlick. Mona’s Song, an outsider, accounted for the principal event at the Gore meeting. The Poverty Bay meeting saw Boldstep win the Sunderland Stakes, the Summer Hack Handicap going to Indian Sun.

EGMONT STAKES TO HOMILY. ALEXCELIA WINS HACK CUP. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) HAWERA. February 9. The Egmont Racing Club concluded a most successful summer meeting at Hawera on Saturday. The weather was overcast and humid. The club should show a profitable margin on the meeting, for the aggregate totalisator investments were up £10.493 on the 1940 figures. This was due mainly to fine weather this year, whereas there was heavy rain each day last year. Saturday's investments were £25.934. compared with £19,427. The total for the meeting was £35.715 10s. One of Season's Finds. Crciio looks little the worse for recent racing. He is one of the finds of the season among the handicap horses and, if ho trains on well, he should be a good prospect for either the- Waikato Cup or the Hurries Memorial Cup a wook later.
