LAVAL'S REPORTED DEMANDS

So far there is do report of the decision reached by the Vichy Cabinet, the 8.8. C. states. Admiral Darlan is new on his way hack to Paris, one report says, accompanied by General lluntzinger. the Vichv War Minister.

German reports state that Marshal Petain will reach a decision this week after he has received a reply from M. Laval. Neutral reports hint at some sort of compromise providing for the inclusion of Laval in the Vichy Government. without the acceptance of Germany’s more extreme demands.

M. Laval is reported to nave informed .Admiral Darlan that he would not mind handing over bases in Southern France to the Germans provided the latter did not demand the active collaboration of the French Navy and Army. Meantime the threats of the Germancontrolled Press and radio in Paris arc becoming more and more violent. Laval is reported to be demanding complete control over the police, Press and radio, and authority over occupied and unoccupied France.
