that authors are important cogs in the picture machine. Arthur Wimperis. one of England's greatest scenarists, has arrived in Hollywood to work with Alexander Korda on the screen play of "New Wine." Wimperis left England last September on the ill-fated City of Benares. and was one of the 57 persons who were saved when the ship was a victim of war. Wimperis returned to : England and later took passage on a ' freighter which reached New York re- ! ccntly. Wimperis has scripted most of i Korda's hit films.
Ben Hecht has been hired to write the ending of "Comrade X." the new Clark Gable-Hedy Lamarr film. Because this picture pokes fun at Russia the studio is rushing it to completion before Russia does something that will make her look too good in die eyes of the world. Hollywood certainly has many international problems to worry about these days.
