WOMEN'S INSTITUTE
MEETING AT PARKVALE
A meeting of the Parkvale Women's Institute, held on Wednesday afternoon was presided over by Mrs D. Adams, vice-president. Votes of sympathy were passed to Mrs B. W. Renall and family. Mr and Mrs W. Renall and family, and Mrs E. James and family in their recent sad bereavements.
The resignation of Mrs B. Renall as president of the institute was accepted with regret. It was decided to cancel the birthday party this year and to hold a social afternoon in its stead in April. Six parcels are to bo arranged for by the institute to be forwarded to troops serving overseas.
Mrs F. M. Kilgour. of Masterton. gave a most interesting talk concerning crippled children and the work 'hat was being done on their behalf. Mrs Kilgour's remarks were followed with interest by members. She was heartily thanked and presented with a shoulder spray.
An invitation was received from the Daleficld Women's Institute to attend their birthday party on February 28.
The monthly competitions were judged by Mrs Kilgour who awarded the prizes as under: Yankee Doodle cake, to be sent to the Y.M.C.A.. Wellington, seniors. Mrs C. Jensen 1. Mrs L. Rayner 2. Mrs .1. Taplin 3. Flower (gladioli). Airs L. Raynor 1. Mrs H. Raynor 2; juniors (cake), Miss J. Warrington I. Aliss S. Rayner 2: gladioli Miss J. Warrington 1. Nominations for the office of president. vice-president and committee for the ensuing year wore taken, election lor which will be held next month. The hostesses for the afternoon were Mesdames C. Jensen. L. Nolan and Misses S. Rayner and J. Warrington.
