WILLIAMSON'S OPERA CO.

"THE GONDOLIERS." The box plans will be opened io- I morrow morning at nine o'clock at the; shop of Messrs Steele and Bui! for the I only appearance here of J. C. William-! son's incomparable Gilbert and Sulli-! von Comic Opera Company, which is! to present the bright, merry and very : tuneful musical play "The Gondoliers" I

at the Regent Theatre on Tuesday I evening next. -AH English-speaking j playgoers have a good knowledge of' the melodies, the characters and much; of the dialogue of "The Gondoliers."! yet no matter how frequently it is re-; vived they know they will enjoy it • even more than when tliey first wit-:

ncssed it. The Williamson directors j were evidently most fortunate in their; selection of artists for the principal; characters in "The Gondoliers." as cri-1 tics in Auckland were unanimous in. declaring that they are the best that have been enjoyed in it for many! years. The inimitable London comedian, Ivan Menzies, is irresistibly hit-j morons in his whimsical characterise- j tion of the Duke of Plaza Toro, and he acts ui perfect unison with Miss Eve-! lyn Gardiner, who will delight us as; the Duchess of Plaza Toro, Richard. Watson and Gregory Stroud will again! appear in their presentations of the; Grand Inquisitor and Guiscppo. and j Vincent McMurray will take the part i of Antonio. Special interest will bo ’ taken in the first appearance here of| Miss Viola Wilson, one of England’s! best sopranos, and of Mr John Fullard. whose singing of "Take a Pair of Sparkling Eyes” created a furore of: enthusiasm in Auckland. "The Gon- i doliers” will be staged with new and J magnificent dresses. costumes and i scenery.
