Three German bombers are reported to have been destroyed while attacking a convoy off the south-east coast. There was a thrilling tight tn hazy weather, and the heavy crash of exploding bombs was incessant. The rattle of machine-guns was heard fora considerable distance along the Kent coast. Spitfires shot down a low-flying Hcinkel near Margate in the morning, and three members of the crew, who baled out. were killed. A raider, heavily laden with highexplosive and incendiary bombs, provided Lincolnshire with r spectacular display last night, when it crashed after a dog-fight. The plane exploded on hitting the ground, and the occupants. believed to number five, were blown to pieces. Flaming wreckage, fed by incendiary bombs, lit up the skv for miles.
