QUEEN CARNIVAL
INTRODUCTION OF NAW
CANDIDATE
parade and dance arranged.
FOR SATURDAY EVENING.
The introduction of Miss Audrey Burling. the Navy Queen candidate in the present carnival, will be made to the public on Saturday night when the pioceedings will open with a street parade commencing at 7.45 o'clock from Waggs garage. The’parade will consist of a large number of floats representing the various sports bodies m the town and will be preceded bv the Pipe and Municipal Band followed by the Queen’s special float. The procession will finish at the Town Hall where a dance will be held which promises to be worthy of the cause. Patrons to the dance are assured of a grand night’s entertainment as no efloit has been spared by a vigorous committee to launch the Navy campaign with a real swing. An excellent dance band has been engaged while the supper arrangements will be on attractive lines. It is not the intention oi the committee to capitalise the dance, but rather to gain supporters for their candidate, and it is hoped that the dancing public will support this effort.
The secretary, Mr. F. Morton, asks persons who have in their possession navy uniforms and who are willing to loan them for the Navy Queen functions, to send in their names and address to him or to the treasurer, Mr J. Bradbury. ARMY QUEEN MAORIS ENTERTAIN IN MAIN STREET. On Friday night, the Maori party will give a repeat performance in Queen Street. SHOP DAY TOMORROW.
