UNIVERSITY ENTRANCE
RECENT EXAMINATION PASSES. W AIR ARA PA COLL EG E CANDIDATES. Commenting on local passes in the University Entrance examination held at the end of last j ear, Mr G. W. Moricc. Acting-Prirclpal of Wairarapa College, states that there was an official entry of 33 candidates from Waii rarapa College, of whom 19 passed, al- : though it was expected that only 18 would do so. Several others entered privately for the examination, perhaps for experience or as a forlorn hope. 1 Of the 33 official candidates only nine sat in Latin, of whom six passed with marks ranging up to 73 per coni. All I these candidates took French and all; but, one passed, the marks ranging up to 86 per cent. There were no failures in English among the cilicial candi-1 dates. It should be noted that a can-1 didate might pass in all subjects and i still fail in the examination through! not averaging *l5 per cent in the fivo| subjects required.
