NAVY LEAGUE
LADIES' AUXILIARY. ,QUEEN CARNIVAL ACTIVITIES. A well-attended meeting of the Ladies' Auxiliary of the Navy League was held yesterday. Mrs Casclbcrg presiding. Apologies for absence were received from Mcsdamcs W. G. Lamb. R. C. Drummond. E. C. White and lite Misses McLaren and Gray. The meeting was called a week earlier than usual, to consider means of raising money to support the Navy Queen (Miss Audrey Burling). Routine business was transacted and the wool committee packed a consignment of garments. The food committee will pack parcels next Tuesday, and the hope was expressed that those members who tire willing to give monthly donations of tinned foods will leave them at Mr Borthwick's office before that date.

The annual meeting will be held in April, when the officers and committee will be elected. Mrs Caselberg’s intimation that she would not be able to accept nomination as president, for a fm (her term, was received with regret On behalf of the committee. Mrs T. Jordan expressed appreciation of Mrs Caselberg’s untiring work for the League, and it was the hope of all present that she would continue to serve on the committee,
A report of the conference of the Navy League War Council was reI ceived; also copies of letters from the Head Office in London, outlining I the work of the Navy and thanking I the New Zealand Navy League for ! comforts supplied for seamen. Pull- ' overs, seaboot stockings. Balaclavas, helmets and socks are the garments most urgently needed. Il was decided to hold a "White Elephant" and jumble sale on Frida.". February 21. in the Occidental Room (al cne lime Mr Gerrand’s Auction Marti, the proceeds to go to support the Navy Queen. Donations of goods for the sale may be left at Mr Williams's office, A. & P. Association building, before that date. It was decided to ask every member of the committee to raise at least .Cl. by giving parties, etc., or any other means, and to ask all Navy League members to endeavour to provide some money in support of the Navy Queen. Miss McLean offered the use of her
house, and to provide supper, for a bridge party. This offer was gratefully accepted and the party will be arranged for an early dale.
