MAURICEVILLE
WOMEN’S INSTITUTE MONTHLY MEETING OF MEMBERS ("Times- Age” Special.) The monthly meeting of the Mauriceville Women's Institute was hold in the Mauriceville West Hall yesterday. Owing to the inclement weather, the attendance was only fair. Nominations for the new committee are to be made at the March meeting which will be held at Mrs I. D. Cameron's residence.
An interesting report was given by Mrs J. A. Baine in connection with the soldiers' parcels. Many soldiers had written appreciative letters to the Institute concerning the parcels received by them. Parcels will again be despatched to soldiers in. March.
The best bloom competition resulted Mrs I. D. Cameron 1. Mrs Osborne 2 The drawing competition was won by Miss 1. Larson with Mrs H. Myers second.
The singing of "God Save the King' brought an enjoyable meeting to <i close. Patriotic Effort. On Monday evening last the Mauriceville sub-centre of the Red Cross Society held a meeting which was presided over by Mrs A. Forsberg. It was decided to support the Nursing Queen in Mastcrion. and to arrange a dance in the Mauriceville East Hall in the near future. Home Guard. The first parade of the Home Guard hold recently in the Mauriceville East Hall produced a gratifying result, there being present representatives from all the surrounding localities. The local commander. Mr E. W. Cheetham. enrolled many new members and it is hoped that shortly the Home Guard movement will be at the peak of its activities.
