Oxley Cup: A rink from Dannevirke visited the local club on Saturday last and were successful in winning this trophy. Scores: — Tolley. Payne. M. Herbert. Hornblow <s). Eketahuna. lost to Wilson. Foote. Nicholson. Hicks is). Dannevirke. 21 29. A rinks tournament was staged by the local club on Sunday, when the following clubs, participated: Carterton. Woodville. Dannevirke. Pahiatua and Eketahuna. A Pahiatua rink, comprising Bowden. Mills, Petersen and Boyens. were the winners of the competition. FIRE BRIGADE MONTHLY MEETING OF MEMBERS.
The monthly meeting of the Eketahuna Fire Brigade was held last night. Supt. 11. Rogers presiding over a good attendance of members.
A letter was received from the U.D.F.B.A. concerning the conference and demonstration to be held at Wairoa during Easter, arising out of which it was decided to enter a team for the competitions. Sanitary S. Daniel was nominated for a position on the executive of the District Association.
Supt Rogers was appointed the Brigade’s delegate at the U.T.B.A. conference which is to be held at Blenheim next month.
Accounts amounting to £4 12s. were passed for payment.
It was decided that the team to represent the brigade in the Triangular Shield competition commence training immediately. The competition will take place at Pahiatua this year. Cricket. In the Bush Cricket Association’s competition High School beat Pahiatua by three wickets and seven runs. The Fire Brigade team beat Mangamaire by an innings and 53 rims. Personals. Miss C. Humphries (Napier) is the guest of Mr R. Humphries, Crossbills, Pongaroa. Mr and Mrs A. P. Campbell are Pongaroa visitors to Napier. Mrs R. C. Scott. Pongaroa, has returned from a visit to Palmerston North. Mr and Mrs R. C. McGregor, Pongaroa. have left on a visit to Balclutha. The Rev. L. F. and Mrs Owen have returned to Pongaroa after having spent a holiday in Wellington. Mr. A. Chambers is an inmate of the M: ister t o 11 II os pita!. Mr. and Mrs. F. West. Stanley Street, tire visiting Paraparaumu. Mr. and Mrs. T. Hooper, Alfredton Road, are spending a holiday at Christchurch. Severe Storm, Eketahuna and district experienced a severe storm yesterday, Rain swept the district and the rivers were soon in high flood. Windy conditions have been prevalent of late.
