(Received This Day, 9.30 a.m.) MELBOURNE. This Day.
Navy Office officials were informed today that a Victorian coast fisherman, feeling a tug on his line, jerked vigorously and brought a mine to the surface a few feel from his boat. The man notified other fishermen nearby and all sailed their boats towards the shore. The mine also floated inshore and mine-sweepers in the vicinity exploded it.
Navy officials said the mine appar-% ently had broken adrift during recent bad weather from a minefield, the position of which is known, and there is no cause for alarm.
