Mrs C. Crosse, of Weber, is the guest of her daughter. Mrs K. Houston. Pongaroa. Mrs W. H. Saunders and family, of Masterton. have returned from a holiday spent at Paekakariki. Mr. and Mrs. Alf. Hoar, of Church Street, Masterion, are visiting Wellington. Miss Doreen Bonifant. of Christchurh, is the guest of Miss Gillian Gooder. Church Street. Masterton. The Rev. David McNcur and Mrs McNeur, of Lansdowne, have returned from a holiday spent at Kelburn. Mr and Mrs Sydney Pryor, of Burnell Avenue. Wellington, are staying with Mrs Pryor’s daughter. Mrs T. T. Smith. Church Street, Masterton. Mr and Mrs Matthews, of New Plymouth. have returned home after a visit to Masterton. Mr Matthews was a former manager of Woolworth’s shop in Masterton.

Sister May, who was for several years matron of the Methodist Children’s Home in Masterton, left today for Wellington, cn route to her home in Melbourne. She has been paying a series of farewell visits and has been the guest of Mrs W. Tullock, Manaia, Airs A. Church. High Street, and Miss Burton. Chapel Street.

The death has occurred after 65 years’ residence in Napier, of Airs J. Double. She was 85 years of age and was born in Oslo (then Christiania). Norway. She came to New Zealand at the age of 20 in 1876. and had lived in Napier ever since except for a short period in Puketitiri.

Miss Marion Malcolm, daughter of Canon and Mrs D. B. Malcolm. Hawera. has achieved distinction by gaining her B.Sc. degree at the age of 19 years. She studied at Victoria College, and during 1938 and 1939 lived in Kelburn while Canon Malcolm was organiser for the Anglican Cathedral Fund. Another Hawera girl. Miss Beryl Marsh, also achieved a similar distinction.
