CARTERTON
ORDER OF ODD FELLOWS LOYAL HEART OF OAK LODGE. ("Times-Age" Special.) The fortnightly meeting of Loyal Heart of Oak Lodge held last evening was presided over by Sister F. E. Eagle. Sick pay amounting to £l6 8s 4d, including £4 10s Social Security Sick benefit, was passed for payment. Two members declared on the funds of the lodge. Contributions were received from Loyal Excelsior Lodge on behalf of a member resident in New Plymouth. The nomination for District offices were before the meeting, and disclosed that there would be competition for every office and also for that of the District Secretary. The password for the ensuing twelve months was received from the District Office. It was announced that the quarterly meeting of the P.G. Lodge would be held at Masterton on Thursday evening. Several members notified their intention of being present.
BOY SCOUTS
MEETING OF CITIZENS’ COMMITTEE.
A meeting of the Carterton Citizens Committee of the local Boy Scout movement was held last evening. Mr Morris presiding. There were also present Messrs H. T. Ray A. Patterson. Fairbrother. DeLacey, Banks, White, Clapp, Mrs Mellish, Miss Walsh and the secretary. Mr N. Walsh. The meeting was called for the purpose of considering the purchase of a building in Belvedere Street to house the Scouts. Brownies and Cubs. Several propositions were submitted and it was resolved to await particulars in regard to the purchase of Terminating Building Society shares, and other schemes, and consider the matter at a meeting next Monday evening. The credit balance in connection with the Christmas Magic Cave was reported to be £6 12s 7d. It .was decided to order one dozen ] Tenderfoot Badges for the Scouts. i It was resolved that warrants for| Scoutmaster and Assistant Scoutmasters be applied for. It was resolved to purchase 12 pack-! ets of playing cards. and cribbago I boards for use in connection with fut- 1 lire card tournaments. Accounts amounting to £1 -Is 4d were passed for payment. BOWLING CLUB COMPETITIONS. Further games in connection with the Carterton Bowling Club's competitions have been played as under: — Champion singles: Sorensen beat Larsen. 20/16; A. Thompson beat Barr. 21/14. Champion pairs: R. Thompson and Harrington (s> beat Larsen and Barber (s). 17/16. Handicap pairs: Colson and Harrington fs) lost to Hawker and Smith is). 20 17.
SWIMMING SPORTS CARTERTON CLUB'S GATHERING There was an excellent attendance at the Carterton Swimming Baths last evening, the.occasion being the weekly competitions held by the Carterton Amateur Swimming Club. The entries for all the events were good and the finishes in most events were close, Mr L. J. Fairbrother acted as starter and timekeeper, Messrs F. Tiiplin.
