OBITUARY
MRS J. S. FRANKS. ■ The death occurred in the Master- | ton Hospital last evening of MH J. S. X j Franks. The late Mrs Franks, who i had been ailing for the past twelve ! months, entered the Masterion Hospi- ! tai a week previously suffering from i acute heart trouble. I Mrs Franks, who was born in LeithI field. Canterbury, was a daughter of I the late Mr Rudolph Neilsen, of i Stockholm, and Elizabeth Neilsen of j Pontifracte, and married Mr A. E. • Franks in 1888. Mr and Mrs Franks I settled in Masterton m 1898 where I they have resided ever since. Alj though of a very retiring nature, her ' ever ready assistance to those in need i of help made for her many friends. The late Mrs Franks leaves a husband, Mr A. E Franks. Worksop Road, one daughter, Mrs J F. Curry, Cornwall Street. Masterton, and five 1 sons, j Ernest <NZ.E.F,', Roy Nolan, HowJ ard 12nd NZ.EF. > and Terry, all liv|mg it'; Wellington. There arc 11 i grandchildren and one great grand- ' child. Tin. funeral, which will be a private one. will leave the residence at 10,30 am on Tuesday. MISS M. I. STRANG. The death occurred at her residence. 9 College Street, Masterton, yesterday, of Miss Mary Isabella Strang, eldest daughter of the late Mr and Mrs John Strung, of "‘G ionside," Gladstone, at the age of 56 years. Early in her youth the late Miss Strang took up nursing as .. profession, ami after passing her examinations •.inn- !■> C.irtirfon m ’915 aiiri opened a private hospital in Howard Street. Kelly, when it became known US it is today, as “Croydon" I a' e Hospital. Though she R;id g j voii up her interest in the hospital Miss '• ’rang still retained an effeetionato regard for the work, until in 1933 she suffered a severe stroke She recovered from this, but never regained her ne’tned health and for the last two vears was an invalid. Her death came ■ eaccfiilly and .she passed to her rest leaving behind her many sorrowing i <<-nds who will sincerely mourn her arly demise.
