RACING CARNIVAL AT RICCARTON Midsummer Handicap to Winning Rival BOLDSTEP WINS AT WAIROA TAPANUI HANDICAP GOES TO ARAVANE Pern Accounts for Matamata Cup Wellington Trotting Cup Won by Zincali (BY 'THE GRAFTFR.") At the Canterbury Jockey Club's meeting at Riccarton on Saturday the Midsummer Handicap was won by the favourite. Winning Rival, who beat an outsider in Gay Parade by a neck. The Middle Park Plate went to the second favourite, Pleading, who was a neck in front of an outsider in Monetary, while the favourite, Palfrey, was third. , The chief event at the Wairoa meeting, the Carroll Memorial Handicap, was accounted for by the favourite. Boldstep, who won comfortably from Hunting Cat. The Tapanui Handicap at the Tapanui meeting saw Aravane beat the favourite. Green Boa. by four lengths.
