It is hoped to have ‘ a full battalion representative- of th< - Ekelahuna district in operation next L week, and this will be. it is understood the first complete battalion in the Wairarapa district. • I As demonstrating the keenness of the ' people to support the Home Guard movement it may* be pointed out that al one district meeting the other day 28 men were enrolled, but at the first parade there was an attendance of 60. '■ Seven meetings have been held in the ; district and the enlistments arc over 1 300. with several districts yet to be or- | ganised. It was decided that the annual sports be held on Saturday, March 9. and that all profits bo donated tn patriotic funds. It was decided to place a Maiden Hack event on the programme, and that the annual dance be held at night. Comet Seen. Conditions for the viewing of the comet were most favourable during the early part of last evening. This) was the first occasion since the comet i was reported that the sky has bcenj cloudless.
