THREE METHODS OF DESPATCH, AVERAGE TRANSIT TIME 1 With a view to clarifying the posii tion regarding the despatch of mails to the United Kingdom, the Post Office advises that there are nt present three methods <>f despatch, by surface means, by tito Empire airmail route and by the Pan-American air service. By surface I means the average transit time is at j present fifty days and the rates of j postage are 2d for the first half ounce , and Id for each additional half ounce. ; Letters prepaid al the rate of Is lid each half ounce <9d for letters not exceeding toz. if addressed to members <>f the fighting forces, but on letters exceeding ioz. the full rate nt Is fid fur each j.<>- must be paid l arc despatched by sir :-> Town and thence by surface means to England this being the only Empire air mail route now available .According to recent information received from London the average transit time is forty-five days.
