THE DEATH (IE GENERAL METAXAS PRIME MINISTER’S MESSAGE. A MEMORIAL SERVICE <By Tel earn ph—Pre.-s Association—Copyright WELLINGTON, This Day. The Prime Minister. Mr. Fraser, has sent the following telegram to the British .Minister at Athens: — "Please convey to the Prime Minister and to the relatives the sincere condolences of lhe Government and people of New Zealand on the death of General Metaxas, who led the heroic struggle against the Italian invader, and whose passing is a grievous loss to Greece and to the British Commonwealth."

On Sunday, the Ven Archdeacon Bullock will conduct a memorial service al St. Peter's Church. Wellington, in honour of General Metaxas.

The service will begin at 7 p.m. with sentences from lhe burial service. The Psalm will be No. 27. and the first lesson with be read by lhe Minister of Finance. Mr. Nash, who will represent lhe Government. The Consul for Greece in New Zealand, Mr. T. E. Y Seddi-n. will read the second lesson. In his address. Archdeacon Bullock will speak of General .Metaxas and the principles governing his life. Tiie Greek congregation will sing Kyrie" and "Memorial." and a quartet will sing 'Contakion.'
