During an afternoon alert in London, a raider dropped a number of firebombs. They were quickly extinguished. doing little or no damage. One fire spotter said he saw a dozen incendiaries falling through the clouds. Some fell on the roofs of buildings. Other bombs wore extinguished or smothered before they had become properly ignited.

A high-explosive bomb fell on a caterer’s premises in a south-east London area, where a large number of people were lunching, but only two wore injured.

A bomber circled a suburb during one of four alerts in London today and dropped bombs, causing casualties, some fatal. One bomb

struck a school and several children were injured. Shops were

damaged, but a majority of the assistants escaped injury. Shoppers threw themselves to the ground or sought refuge in doorways.

Seven persons killed and some injured are thus far known in a Thames Estuary town.

High-explosive bombs were dropped in a south-east London area in the afternoon. One directly hit a crowded restaurant but only two persons were injured.

Cars in a car park caught fire and a number of houses in the Home counties were damaged.

A few persons were injured and a number tire still buried under the wreckage of houses in the East Anglian town, bombed last flight. Some are believed to be children and members of the A.R.P. have given up hope of rescuing them. A.R.P. workers last night in a London district rescued a father and four children. They searched throughout the night for the wife, who was discovered later wandering in the streets, through loss of memory.
