A novel memento of the war. in the form of a ring made from a piece of metal from a Messerschmitt aeroplane shot down in England, has been forwarded by Gunner F. L. Prebble to a friend in Napier. The ring is polished to the colour of silver, and is shaped like a small signet, with a New Zealand fern loaf as a background for the initials. It is understood that the work was done with only a hacksaw and file, but it compares favourably with professional workmanship.
