FAREWELL GATHERING PRESENTATION TO MRS STEVENS (" Ti mes -Age" Special.) An enjoyable gathering look placi : in the Parish Hall, Greytown, yestcr day afternoon, when the members o various organisations met to b:d farewell to Mrs Stan Stevens, who wil shortly leave Greytown to reside ir j Christchurch. Mrs Beu welcomed Mrs i Stevens to the meeting. i A short musical programme was arranged by Mcsdames A. York and H j G, Carter as follows: Pianoforte duets ! Mrs H. Farley and H. G. Carter. The League of Mothers choir rendered two j items, "Where E’er ye walk" and "Spring and Summer." Mrs 11. Farley sang two songs, "Bless this House" and "My Treasure." A competition was won by Mesdames W. G K. Wiggins, H. Kidd and A. York, Mrs Kidd winning in the draw. A telegram competition with the word "Stevens" was won by Mrs A. Bull. The hall had been beautifully decorated by Mrs Bayliss who also made a beautiful shoulder spray which was presented to Mrs Stevens. Mrs Beit spoke on behalf of the Women’s Division of the Fanners’ Union. and said that Mrs Stevens had been a valued member of the Division, and her departure from the town .was regretted by her friends. The speaker hoped that Mrs Stevens would some day return to Greytown and they would be pleased to welcome her at their meetings. Mrs Bull, president of the League of Mothers, wished Mrs Stevens success and happiness in her future life and hoped that both she and her two children would be happy in Christchurch. She said it would not be Greytown: without a Stevens. As long as she could remember there had always been 1 a Stevens in Greytown. Mrs J. F. Thompson spoke on be-' half of the Girl Guides, and said that Mrs Stevens had for many years held, the office of president as well as secretary. The Greytown Guide Company was losing a very efficient committee member. Canon Sykes said it fell to his lot as; president of St. Luke's Church Ladies' Guild to bid farewell to one of the Guild members. Mrs Stevens, he said, had always been a good bazaar and Guild worker. On behalf of the Ladies' Guild he wished Mrs Stevens good health and happiness in the future. Mrs Vile, president of the Plunket ! Society, said that Mrs Stevens had j been a very good Plunket Commitlee member and wished her the best of everything in the future. Mrs A. W, Horton, Mayoress, then: presented Mrs Stevens with a double! row of pearls and ear-rings to match i from the various organisations and: wished her good health and happiness! in the future. Mrs Stevens thanked the speakers' and said that she did appreciate the I beautiful gift. When she wore the; pear’s she would always remember her i Dreytown friends. Afternoon tea was served in buffet' style. I The pianist fur the gathering was. Urs H. G, Carter.

Mrs H. G. Carter. Tile singing of Auld Lang Syne and the National Anthem brought lhe gathering to a close. Home Guard. The Grey town Home Guard Company paraded last evening. During the evening lhe secretary, Mr F. Dewhirst. enrolled twenty more members, bringing the roll up to 200. Before long these will be grouped into two companies. Ail members were given their arm bands. At the conclusion of tire parade Captain H. G Carter outlined lhe form of training to be carried out. On the call for members to be trained as section leaders ever thirty volunteered. Tiles..; will train with the Carterton N.C.O’s.
