'.Ely Telcgraph—Press Associat son—Copyright NEW YORK. January 28. The Belgrade correspondent of the “New York Times” says ihai Fascist militia in northern Italy fired mi demonstrating and striking workmen and caused casiial--1 ie*.
According to high sources the workmen refused to enter their factory in the morning and shouted: “Abasso Germania! Abasso la guerra!" (Down with Germany! Down with the war!) One workman, who ridiculed Mussolini and assumed the Duce’s stance, was shot down, whereupon the workmen attacked the militiamen. One workman, who escaped in a freight train to Yugoslavia, revealed that the demonstration was quelled and many were arrested.
A traveller from Italy the correspondent continues, reported additional .serious disturbances in Milan and Turin. He said that a huge crowd demonstrated at the Milan railway station on Saturday. where German guards wore posted. Another traveller from Italy confirmed the incident and said that the crowd wore armed with knives and pistols. Militia blocked off the adjacent streets and battered the demonstrators.
It is understood that a similar crowd marched and demonstrated at a Milan aircraft factory simultaneously. It is reported without confirmation, adds the correspondent, that Yugoslav and German workmen have been wounded in fights in several Yugoslav factories, due to the Yugoslavs’ disparagement of Hitler.
