* SHORTHAND TESTS LOCAL SUCCESSES. (•‘Times-Age" Special.) The following are the results of the shorthand examinations held in connection with Sir Isaac Pitman's Commercial College. Melbourne:—Short-hand-typist: Doreen Copeland, 10U words per minute. Shorthand: Alice Johnson, 70 words per minute; Ruth Hindlcy, 70 words per minute; Marjory McPherson, 60 words per minute; Leith Knutson. 60 words per minute. ORDER OF DRUIDS TOTARA LODGE MEETING. Arch Druid Bro. C. W. Smith presided over the meeting of Totara Lodge No. 3. U.A.0.D.. on Monday night, there being a good attendance of members. The clearances of two members, who had left the district, to other lodges were granted. Through the Friendly Societies' Council Dr. R. N. Campbell notified that he would be on military service after January 31 and would take up his residence in Wellington for the duration of the war and that Dr. WcllA would be his locum tenems. It was resolved that members who are on Dr. Campbell's list be notified of his departure. The half yearly balance sheet was read and adopted, favourable comment being made on the progress shown by the lodge. Accounts passed for payment were:) Sick pay, £l5 13s 4d; Social Security i sick. pay. £lO 15s; general accounts. £7' 8s 2d; death claim, £120; total. £133 16s 6d. The quarterly return showing 24U ■ financial benefit members was read. SCHOOL ASSOCIATION CARD PARTY LAST NIGHT. There was a good attendance at the! fortnightly ”500" party held last night i in the Band Room, under the auspices I of the Home and School Association.
