STRONG POSITIONS
QUITTED BY ITALIANS RETREAT INTO ERITREA. PURSUIT BY INDIAN TROOPS. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day. 10.30 a.m.) RUGBY. January 28. British forces are closing in on Agordat. in Eritrea, while on the western frontier of Abyssinia, according to the latest reports, the Italians have quitted fairly strong positions and still are being pursued. On the entire frontier the bulk of the British troops taking part arc drawn from the Indian Army. The forces are under command of MajorGeneral W. Platt, who has been commanding the troops in the Sudan since the end of 1938.
