Hodge as | a member of the executive was ae- ] copied with deep regret. Prior to her ■ departure for Otaki Miss Hodge had I been on the executive for a number or years during which time she had been a very ardent worker for the cripplec. child rcn. I: was reported that Miss H'-dge-had met with an accident, a lull resulting in a broh.en arm. it w..s resolved to feru.-.rd a litter of sympathy and 'nest wishes for a speedy recovery. A number of letters •<!’ appreciation were received from crippled children to whom Cliristmas presents hail beer, sent. i Mrs J. Welch and Mrs M. G Scharnj webber were elected, as annual mem- | bers of the Society. Accounts amounting to £4.3 13s 8d for operative treatment, iiospit.il fees Christmas gifts and expenses wi r< passed. Advice was icceived from ’.lie New Zealand Crippled Children Society of efforts being made in co-operation with j the Department if Health for the es- | tablishmenl of a travelling clime fo> I the Wellington province. Informatior I was being collected and it is hoped ’.ha' I arrangements can be made for the [ clinic to x-ssit this district. .Arrangements are being made for a crippled girl to enter hospital for treat - ' ment. and in another case assistance in j meeting the cost of repairs to an artificial limb was authorised. Mrs Kilgour. Welfare Officer, report- , ed on visits made to 31 homes and at- I tention given to 22 cases. During the | last month cases in Carterton. Grey- i town. Featherston and Martinborough j were visited and reports on the pro-1 gress of the children were satisfactory ' A number of cases in Masterton and | children at the Masterton Public Hos- | pital were also visited. Several con- ■ valescent children from Wellington j have been placed on farms in the Mai- I rarar.n and reports on the improve- ' ment in health have been encouraging.. Assistance is being given to a boy I | pending the result of an application for j a pension, while efforts are being made < to secure employment for another! youth with a local firm.
