FIG TREE IN LOCAL GARDEN WELL LADEN WITH FRUIT. ("Times-Age" Special.) Your representative was yesterday given some well grown figs from a very healthy tree growing in Mr H. D. Wallis's garden in Kent Street. Carterton. At the moment the tree is heavily laden with fruit and in view of this, there should not be any difficulty in growing this class of fruit profitably in the warmer climates of New Zealand. SWIMMING CLUB GATHERING LAST NIGHT. The Carterton Amateur Swimming j Club held a very successful carnival j at the Carterton borough baths last evening. There was a large attend- j ance and good entries were received i in each event. In many of the races i the finishes were exciting and the ver-1 diet gained by small margins.
