“BENGAL LANCER." Adventure on India’s turbulent north-west frontier is thrillingly portrayed in “Lives of a Bengal Lancer.” a truly great production which will be shown tonight. Gary Cooper. Franchot Tone, Sir Guy Standing and Richard Cromwell are a few of the notables who head the impressive cast of this memorable film. It relates the story of an heroic band of men fighting against desperate odds far from civilisation. and for its gripping realism and adventure has probably never been surpassed. “The Lives of a Bengal Lancer” will probably always be remembered as a classic of its kind. Apart from its thrills and action, it abounds in glorious outdoor scenery, and was actually made in the rugged mountain country of India’s north-west frontier. Though an American picture, it pays a great tribute to British courage and endurance. The acting is exceptionally good and at times rises to heights of great brilliancy. The picture is one that will make an immediate appeal for its general excellence, its scenery and the portrayal of difficult characters.
