« NAVY QUEEN SELECTED. MISS AUDREY BURLING. At a meeting of the Navy Queen committee held in Masterton last night and presided over by Mr. I. I. McGregor. Miss Audrey Burling was selected as the Navy Queen in connection with the Patriotic Queen Carnival. The following executive was appoint-’ ed: Mcsdames A. Caselberg. Nellie Miller. Miss O. R. Sutherland. Messrs. Gordon Peterson. H. L. Esau. Vic. Welch. J, Corbishley, E. Sortain Smith, W. Grantham anrd W. Hendry, and a nominee from the local Headmasters’ Association. Mr. I. I. McGregor was appointed chairman. Mr. Frank Morton secretary and Mr. J. Bradbury treasurer, Mr. J. Bradbury donated a wristlet watch. Mrs. A. Caselberg a rose bowl, and Mrs. G. Hessell a dressed baby doll for ratlies. it was decided to hold a dance in the Municipal Hall one night next week. ARMV QUEEN CONCERT IN QUEEN STREET TOMORROW NIGHT. SOME ATTRACTIVE FEATURES. A bright entertainment is promised in Queen Street tomorrow night when a Young Maori Party will present a concert in aid of the Army Queen, Miss .Marion Holdsworth. The programme will start at 7,30 o’clock and some novelty items will be concluded among the many attractions. A meeting of the Army Queen general committee was held last night when further sub-committees wore appointed to attend to various phases of the campaign.

AIR FORCE QUEEN ENTHUSIASTIC MEETING LAST NIGHT, ARRANGEMENTS FOR CAMPAIGN, An enthusiastic meeting of representatives of the various organisations and others interested was held lust night to decide on a plan of campaign in furtherance of the candidature of the Air Force Queen candidate, Miss Jose Husking. Mr R. E. Gordon Lee, who had been acting as chairman, said he was prepared to give all possible assistance but as he was chairman of the Masterton County Council and president of the Masterton A. and P. Association, his time would be fully occupied, more especially as the Masterton Show was being held in a few weeks’ time. Such being the case he asked to be relieved of the position of chairman of the committee, Mr J. A, Betts was unanimously elected chairman, Mr G. R Sykes was appointed secretary, and Mr J- C PMack ley treasurer. The Air Force Relations Committee wrote stating that it desired to support the Air Force Queen and asked that its organisation should be added t<> those supporting the queen. This declaration was received with enthusiasm and the request was readily complied with.
