FIVE ENEMY BOMBERS
SUNDAY NIGHT’S BAG IN BRITAIN FOUR PLANES BROUGHT DOWN BY GUNS. RAIDED AREAS INCLUDE SOUTHAMPTON. The London anti-aircraft defences had a very successful night on Sunday. No less than five enemy bombers were destroyed, four of them by anti-aircraft fire. The first communique reported only two down, but the Germans admitted the loss of five machines and a later Air Ministry communique confirmed this figure. Sunday night’s raids were not on a big scale, in spite of the heavy enemy ■ losses. Bombs were dropped in the London area and in south and southI east England, the places attacked in- ; eluding Southampton. Both crashed in flames. One came down, in Hampshire and the other on a farm hi Sussex.
