SALE AT FEILDING STORE SHEEP VALUES FIRM. MUTTON PRICES EASIER. (By Telegraph—Press Association..) FEILDING. January 17. The store sheep market was very active at the Feilding sale today, prices for good quality lines being firm on last week. Mutton was a shade easier and store cattle were in slow demand. Fat sheep: Ewes showed a decline on last week and wethers were rather unsteady, but lambs sold well. Prime wethers made 20s lOd to 21s 7d. lighter prime 19s lOd to 20s 7d. unfinished 17s to 18s lOd; prime ewes Ils 4d to 12s 7d. second quality 10s to Ils 3d. light and unfinished 8s 9d to 9s lOd; light hoggets Ils lOd; prime lambs 23s to 24s Id, light 16s lOd; extra prime maiden ewes. 18s Ten-
Store sheep: There was a fairly heavy penning of lambs and a good demand, with prices firm. Two-tooth ewes and wethers also sold well. Good two-tooth ewes brought 30s 6d. second quality 23s 2d to 25s 6d. small 17s 6d: best two-tooth wethers 20s to 20s 2d, seconds 16s to 17s 9d; well-grown black-face lambs, shorn, 13s to 14s. smaller Ils 6d to 12s 9d. others to 10s 6d; ewe lambs 16s 7d to 17s: white-face wether lambs, best 14s 5d to 15s lOd. fair 12s lOd to 13s lOd. small 9s 6d to Ils 9d; mixed-sex lambs, small. 8s 4d.
Store cattle: The inquiry for cattle was dull, works cows and bulls being the best sellers. A few head of station stock made satisfactory prices. Forward A.A. bullocks realised £9 9s Gd; average quality three-year A.A. steers £7 5s to £7 10s; works cows, heavy £4 to £4s 12s 6d, others £2 15s to £3 17s 6d. Dairy stock: Very few dairy lines were offered, the sale being quite brisk for good cows in milk. Bost in-milk cows sold for £7 10s to £8 10s, others £5 10s; weaner Jersey heifers £2 2s 6d, Fat cattle: Beef was in good supply and made a satisfactory clearance. Light steers and runners brought advanced prices. DECLINE IN TRICES
New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Coy report on the Eketahuna sale as follows: A good yarding of sheep, which comprised mostly lambs, with a small entry of pigs, was submitted to the usual attendance. The tone of the sale was undoubtedly affected by the recent pronouncement regarding shipping, and prices showed a sharp decline on late sales. Weancr pigs made from bls 6d to 20s. CARTERTON SALE PAIR DEMAND FOR SMALL LAMBS GOOD PRICES FOR FAT COWS Messrs Wright. Stephenson and Co.. Ltd., report as follows on their Carterton sale yesterday: A fairly big yarding came forward. The sheep entry was chiefly comprised of small lamb's, and these met with a fair sale. Fats and better class lambs made quite good values. Included in the cattle entry was a herd of cows offered on behalf, of Mr M. Collins, of Taradale. These made good values. Fat and store cows! made good prices. Pigs sold al late! rates.
