NIGHT BOMBING
LONDON AGAIN MAIN TARGET
MORE FIRE WATCHERS STILL NEEDED. LIVERPOOL AND OTHER PLACES ATTACKED. < By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) , LONDON. January 12. For the second night in succession London was apparently the main target of the Luftwaffe tonight. when a large number of bombs fell in various parts of the capital. The all-clear sounded before midnight. Raiders wore also reported over Liverpool and towns in north-east, south-west and western England and south Wales. The day had been quiet. Though 100,000 fire-watchers have been enrolled in London, the number of fires started last night show that too many buildings were unwatched. Firemen in some cases wore forced to break down doors in order to put out small fires that threatened blocks of property. The newspapers emphasise that while the value of the property saved by the efforts of fire-watchers is incalculable, it could be greater still.
