RAID ON BREST
THIRD IN A WEEK PARTICULARS OF HEAVY DAMAGE. BOMB HITS & RESULTS SEEN CLEARLY. (British Official Wireless.) (Received 'Phis Day, Noon.) RUGBY, January 10. A strong force of Coastal Command aircraft raided German shipping and docks at Brest last night for the third time this week. The attack lasted for over six hours and was aided by bright moonlight, in which the docks could be pick-
ed out clearly. Docks and storage buildings were repeatedly straddled by sticks of bombs and fires were started near the entrance of Fort Militaire.
The wireless operator cf one aircraft which made a particularly .successful attack saw two of his bombs make direct hits on a large ship. Other bombs burst on moles between docks. The pilot of .‘mother aircraft saw a salvo hit near a dry dock, There was an immense burst us a building disintegrated and a mushroom of black smoke arose slowly to a height of several hundred feel.
