GOOD WORK
DONE BY FIRE-FIGHTERS IN LONDON
INCENDIARY BOMBS DEALT WITH SPEEDILY.
HOME SECURITY MINISTRY'S COMMENDATION.
(British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day. Noon.) RUGBY. January 10.
A Ministry of Home Security special report on Thursday night's fire-bomb raid on London emphasises that the newly-formed fire-bomb fighting parties emerged with flying colours from the test. Though a large number of incehdiary bombs were dropped, all were promptly dealt with and no serious fire was caused.
In one large district, which was the object of a particularly heavy attack, several hundred fire-bombs were dropped and were dealt with by parties with such spepd that the wardens sent them a message of congratulation on their quick and successful efforts. In one borough, twenty small fires were dealt with without any need to call upon the services of a brigade.
Wardens and fire-bomb fighting parties between them dealt so successfully with London's incendiary bombs that a vast majority were extinguished within ten minutes of falling.
