OBITUARY

♦ MRS. JESSIE WILLIAMS. The death occurred in Wellington on December 21 of Mrs Jessie Williams, wife of Mr J. Williams, and formerly of Gisborne. Tokomaru Bay and Masterton, after a short illness. The late Mrs Williams was the eldest daughter of the late Mr and Mrs J. IL Corbett, of Masterton, Mr Corbett being at one lime proprietor of the old Empire Hotel in Masterton. The late Mrs Williams was well known in musical circles in Masterton and was a brilliant pianiste. Some of her old pupils still reside in the Wairarapa. In pre-orchcs-tra days in Masterton her services were much in demand for dances and she was noted for her skill as an accompanist al local concerts. Her kindly nature made her very popular with all those who knew her and by whom her death will be deeply regretted. She leaves a husband but no family.
