The tournament opened with play ; in the singles. The pairs will start oh j Friday and on Monday the fours will i begin. The finals will be held over ' the last week of the tournament. All last year’s winners are defending their titles and many former chami pions are competing. At the end of play 66 players were ; left in and their elimination games will ■be continued throughout tomorrow.
