OWNERS’ APPEAL
PLACING OF SHAM BOY. DECISION AT WAIKOUAITT MEETING. ißy Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH. January 8. An appeal to the Dunedin District Committee has been lodged by the owners of Sham Boy against the decision of the stewards of the Waikouaiti Racing Club in reversing the places in the concluding event at the club's recent meeting. Sham Boy. trained by S. Barr, won the race narrowly from Circular Note but a protest by the latter’s trainer, on the ground of interference in the straight, was upheld and Circular Note was placed first and Sham Boy second. Tite stake for the race has been impounded pending hearing of the appeal. At the last meeting of the Wellington Racing Club in October Recollection, also trained by Barr, won the hurdle race on the second day from Great, Fair, but following an inquiry into: interference in the run home the plac-| ings were reversed. It must be unique] in die racing world for a trainer to] lose two races with different horses ini a short period in almost identical cir-l cumstances.
