TRIBUTE TO AIRMEN
SAVED BRITAIN FROM INVASION
l ETTER PROM BRIGADIER GENERAL SIR HERBERT HART,
'Brigadier General Sir Herbert Hart, formerly of Masterton and now statione<i in the Middle East is still carrying out his pre-war work in connection with the Imperial War Graves Commission. in addition to new war work in the same department, for the whole of the Middle East.
In a letter to Mr Vivian Donald, of Masterton. written on December 1. he states: "The tide has turned and although it will not be easy, wo are on the right road io victory. Haven’t our young airmen been marvellous? Such a large percentage come from New Zealand and other Dominions too. During those precious months all this summer, they did what Drake did when he fought the Armada and saved Britain.*, from invasion. As our very cxcellenr Prime Minister Churchill said: •Never have so many of us owed so much to so few.’ ’’
