England, in 1859, Mr. 1 ' Green came to New Zealand in 1525, > land settled in Napier, where ho re-1 j mained for some time. He I retired from business in 1919. and re- i sided in Newtown till his death. He I imported from France in 1902 the fifth I petrol-driven motor-car to appear in j Wellington. The death has occurred of Mr Thomas Norton Tanner, a well-known resident of Hustings for a number of years. Born in Matamau in 1898. Mr Tanner was educated at Huntly Preparatory School, and at Wanganui Collegiate School. During his course at Wanganui he first suffered from an ailment which left him with Indifferent ■ health during the remainder of his} life. Mr Tanner is survived by his I wife. They were married about Hi years ago, at which time they settled in Hastings, Mr Tanner entering busi-i ness in his profession of engineer. Illhealth enforced his retirement for a number of years before his death.
