BEGIN BY BRITAIN
INVASION OF EUROPE ACCORDING TO AMERICAN CORRESPONDENT. SERIES OF DARING RAIDS. i NEW YORK. January 4. A correspondent of the AsI sociated Press of America who lias retuimed from England, says that Britain lias already begun an invasion of the Continent. There have been at least nine daring raids into German-occupied France. Parties of 50 men riding motorcycles armed with machine-guns landed from trawlers and smacks, and some penetrated as far as .Amiens <45 miles inlandi. The purposes of the raids are to terrorise and harass the Germans, who are thinly strung out to a point of great vulnerability, and also to bolster up the French morale, capture prisoners, obtain information, and to sabotage. The correspondent adds that neutral sources expect that Britain will be, superior to the enemy in the air in July or August, when she will have enough tanks and equipment to enable an attempt at full invasion of the Continent.
