BIG CONTRACTS
PRODUCTION OF PLANES IN U.S.A. SURVEY OF ALL DEFENCE PREPARATIONS. ■ By Telegraph— Press Association—Copyright I WASHINGTON. January 2. President Roosevelt has approved four contracts totalling 70,000.000 dollars for the expansion of aeroplane manufacturing facilities to increase the production of aeroplane frames, engines and superchargers. The largest of these contracts is 37.000.000 dollars to expand the Studebaker Corporation’s three plants in Indiana and Illinois to produce Wright aeronautical motors, and also 24.000.000 dollars to expand the Buick plant in Michigan to produce Pratt and Whitnej- aeroplane motors. Tile chairman of the House .Military and Naval Allan’s Committees announced that a complete survey will be undertaken of naval and military defence preparations "in order to ascertain what kind of answer we have got for Hitler
