TOMATO SEASON IS HERE
WIDE RANCE OF RECIPES. i Housewives will welcome with delight the return of the tomato season because of the very many uses to , which this popular and valuable veget- ■ able can be put. Here are some recipes for which I either the fresh tomatoes or canned j tomatoes can bo used: — Turkish Pilot. Mutton stock, i cup; tomato pulp, I ■ cup; onion, 1; rice. 1-3 cup; minced j cold mutton. 1 cup; butter, 3 tablei spoons; chillies, salt and pepper. Boil ‘ rice in tile stock and tomato pulp. Slice the onion in butter. Add to the mixture with rest of butter and j seasoning Lastly add minced meat, : and serve hot. I Tomato and Sausage Pie. •I tomatoes, 11b sausage- , ‘ cup stock, lib mashed potatoes. 1 or 2 parboiled onions. Grease a pie dish, slice the tomatoes and place them at the bottom of the dish Season to taste, Lav on the sausages and then slices of onions, and add the stock. Pile the mushed potatoes on top. and cook in moderate oven for three-quarters of an hour Savoury Spaghetti, ;lb spaghetti, ’,lb cheese, I|l> tomatoes, loz butler. 1 tsp. mixed herbs, 1 cup stock. 1 tablespoon cornflour,' 1 onion, pepper and salt Wipe and -live the tomatoes and peel and slice onion.
