DAYLIGHT ATTACKS

ON OBJECTIVES IN GERMANY

AND OCCUPIED TERRITORY.

MADE BY BRITISH BOMBERS

Although bad weather prevented the R.A.F. from carrying out one of its destructive raids on enemy territory on Monday night, the 8.8. C. states, a series of attacks on objectives in Germany and occupied areas was made by British bombers in daylight on Tuesday.

One pilot, diving from low cloud, made a direct hit on a bridge. A factory at Cologne was bombed successfully. Hits wer made also on German oil stores at Rotterdam and on docks at Ymuiden. At Flushing an armed ship was bombed from a height of under 500 feet. After the attack the ship was seen to be down by the stern and listing to port.

It is officially stated there was no enemy air activity over Britain last night. An Air Ministry communique states: “Several of our bombers attacked targets in Germany and the Low Countries in the course of reconnaissances yesterday. The weather was unfavourable, but bombs were seen to fall on a factory at Cologne. Objectives in Rotterdam and in the docks at Ymuiden were attacked, and near Flushing an anti-aircraft ship was hit and put out of action. Two of our planes are missing."

Later oificial reports on these daylight operations show that another aircraft bombed an important bridge near Emmerich and that the enemy vessel attacked near Flushing was seen down by the stern with a heavy List.
