FEARED BY SOVIET

GERMAN OFFENSIVE IN BALKANS DISCUSSIONS IN LONDON. MR. EDEN & M. MAISKY. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) LONDON, December 30. Mr Anthony Eden had a long conference with M. Maisky (Soviet Ambassador), who expressed his personal pleasure at renewing relations with Mr Eden, 'says the “Times” diplomatic correspondent. It is understood M. Maisky and Mr Eden discussed every aspect of Anglo-Soviet relations. Well-informed circles state that Russia is far from indifferent concerning the possibility of a German offensive in the Balkans in the spring. Russia fears an extension of the war because she is likely to be involved. Russia’s attitude undoubtedly explains her diplomatic support to Bulgaria and also the improvement in Russo-Turkish relations.
