A Good Contest. At Auckland yesterday the King's Plate, despite the small field, was productive of a good contest, the favourite Sir Beau taking charge from the leader Don't Forget, who was quickly in the van, to set a lively pace. Royal Chief, last early, moved up to Sir Beau at the turn and they followed Don't Forget to the distance, where Sir Beau, took charge, to hold of!' Royal Chief by a head, with Don't Forget a neck away third and Gayest Son heading the rest. Ned Worthy’s Record. The five-year-old Ned Worthy, who won the Auckland Jubilee Trotting Cup al Epsom, was bred in Southland, being by Worthy Bond from First Water, by Harold Rothschild from Red Diamond. Worthy Bond was imported from America and was for a time at the Mardclla Slud. Otahuhu. Ned Worthy showed good form as a three-year-old, winning the Winton Juvenile Stakes and the Wyndham Juvenile Stakes.
