MANGATAINOKA CLUB OUTSTANDING GATHERING. LIST OF SUCCESSFUL COMPETITORS. (“Times-Age” Special.) The annual meeting of the Mangatainoka Amateur Athletic Club was carried out to a successful issue. The entries were large and the gathering was ably managed by a very capable band of officials. The coveted Hughes-Cossar Cup for the most points in running events was won for the second time in succession by S. Beales who gave a fine performance to win places in three distances. He now retains the cup which was presented to him by the Society President, Mr. Erol Lett. The Mauri Bros, and Thompson trophy for the B grade two-mile cycle race was won by J. A. Sparkes. Nita McKenna won the sword dance and becomes the holder of the Australian Glass Co.’s trophy for a year. The society president, Mr. Erol Lett, expressed himself as well pleased with the entries and attendance at the meeting. He was sure that when the accounts were closed there would be a good sum for the patriotic fund. He gratefully acknowledged the conscientious work of all the club officials and the attendance of competitors and public in such good numbers.
