HOLIDAY CRICKET AT MASTERTON WAIRARAPA v HAWKE’S BAY. TWO CENTURIES IN JUNIOR GAME. The Wairarapa senior and junior teams scored victories yesterday at Masterton over the Hawke’s Bay senior and junior elevens. In the junior game two centuries were recorded on the Wairarapa side, Mexted scoring 101. not out. and Fitzpatrick 106, the pair putting on 200 runs while together. SENIOR CONTEST. THREE WICKETS WIN. Wairarapa beat Hawke’s Bay by a margin of five wickets. Hawke's Bay closed their second innings at 9 wickets for 184. Davis. Schofield and Taylor being the chief scorers. Wairarapa compiled 232 for the loss of 5 wickets in its second- innings, Mexted and Fitzpatrick turning on a good performance. They carried the score from 18 to 218. Mexted, in his 101 not out hit 15 4’s and three 6’s. Fitzpatrick played a flawless innings for his 106. He hit three 6’s and 15 4’s. The partnership realised 200 runs before Fitzpatrick was caught off Taylor. The finish of the match was of an exciting character, Wairarapa securing the victory a few minutes before the call of time.
