GIRLS IN CAMP
GATHERING AT SOLWAY SHOWGROUNDS. FULL ROUND OF ACTIVITIES. Sixty-seven business girls from Wellington are in camp at the Solway Showgrounds, Masterton. The camp, which is an annual one, is under the auspices of the Wellington Y.W.C.A., and is controlled by Miss Helen MacDonald (formerly of Canada) sports mistress of the Y'.W.C.A. Sunday will be visitors’ day. The camp commenced on Boxing Day and will continue until January 4. Seventeen girls left yesterday on a three days’ excursion to Napier. On Monday and Tuesday a party of girls will visit Mount Holdsworth. On Wednesday a sports day will be held, followed by swimming sports on Thursday. The girls the fortunate in having the use of the Solway College swimming baths and tennis courts. Swimming, physical training, sing-songs, etc., are being entered into with keen enthusiasm by the girls. Miss MacDonald is giving instruction in swimming and tennis. On January 6 junior girls will camp at Solway for 10 days.
