ANNUAL RECITAL
MISS STUBBINGS’S PUPILS. The junior pupils of Miss E. Stubbings, L.R.S.M. (London), entertained a very large number of parents and friends in tht McGregor Hall. The first half of the programme was devoted to pianoforte solos, duets and trios interspersed with percussion band items.
Certificates gained during the year in the Royal Academy theory and practi-
cal examinations were presented by Pilot Officer Stubbings (R.N.Z.A.F.). ’ All the pupils entered for these examiwere successful. In theory there were 13 passes, in harmony one pass and in practical 18 passes (six with credit). Opportunity was also taken to present diplomas to five pupils who were successful in the recent Wellington competitions. An operetta was artistically staged during the second half of the programme, and those who were fortunate to witness this performance were enthusiastic in their praise of the very high standard attained. Miss Stubbings was the recipient of a beautiful bouquet and a handsome gift from the pupils. Mrs W. G. Perry, who acted as acccmpaniste for the operetta, was presented with a bouquet. Lois Tooby, Noelene Cottle, Mary Williams, Jill Messenger, Joan Yorke, Yvonne Burridge, Ngaire McGavin, Valerie Berry, Jocelyn Messenger, Jocelyn Gilbert, Lexie Webber, Helen McGregor, Peter Downes, Clare Pring, Bill Finlayson, Joleen Stewart, Erlad Wright. Melva Seed. Michael Shortland. Edna Burling, Russel Finlayson, Beth Creswell, Rogei’ Berry, Shirley McDonnell. Ivy Burke. Three tiny tots also assisted: Nola Burling. ■ Diana Messenger, Hadlow Seed.
